01Workshop

Nature was the first artist.

Before there were studios, galleries or design schools, there was nature. Shape, rhythm, colour, texture, repetition, balance and structure already existed in leaves, shells, stones, branches, flowers, insects and water.

In this workshop, children return to that first source of inspiration. They look at the natural world not as something separate from art, but as one of the places art begins.

A pine cone can become a body. A vegetable can become a mark-making tool. A branch can suggest structure. A seed, a leaf or a stone can become the beginning of a character, an object or an entirely new idea.

The focus is not on making ‘nature crafts.’ It is on learning to notice more — to see materials, forms and possibilities where other people might see only ordinary things.

Nature becomes both material and teacher: showing children how much can be created from what already exists, and how imagination often begins with paying closer attention to the world around us.

It is also a quiet reminder that creativity did not begin with us. We inherited it from the planet we live on.
